The Belonging Box

Academy of Art and UC Hastings partnered together in an annual design charrette Hackathon to “Hack and find technological solutions to some of the most pressing legal issues surrounding homelessness in San Francisco. The group designed and Individual Guerilla Survival Unit (IGSU) that would aid the unsheltered in providing a secure form of storage that is durable and convenient. The Belonging Project & Belonging Box exists to create a secure, durable, and mobile storage unit for unhoused individuals to prevent their belongings from being lost by local officials when they conduct “homeless sweeps”.
